Yes it has been a long time since I posted a blog for this site.  Several of the Moms have had family illnesses or family death , so it has been quite crazy around our homes.  However, in late June we posted new cards that are encouraging and relate to spiritual matters, you can see them on the site, Gallery Cards page 4.

My son, James, has been in the hospital for 12 days, following a hip replacement surgery.  We are in rehab now, yes I'm with him, but expect to go home on 8/9/2011.  Once we are home and settled in the Unexpected Treasures will be back to their card making.  I especially want you to see two cards; one by Kevin and one by James.  They are both Get Well cards and I think they did exceptionally well with piecing all the elements together.

For now, my prayer is that God will bless each of you, that He would shine his face on you (Numbers 6:24).

We been working hard for the past three weeks designing and producing cards for Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Graduation.  I am so proud of this group of adults, as they are producing an average of 50 cards every Friday afternoon and selling them to as many people as possible.  At this, point, they sold all the Mother's Day cards they made, save for about 4 and we expect the same for Father's Day and Graduation.  The are realizing that one of kind cards are so different from what we buy at Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, or Hallmark.  I've been trying to teach them and to encourage them to dream big, nothing should hold them back just because they are disabled.  They are quite capable of working to own their own small businesses and I sit back and wonder where the dreams will take us next.  As you check out the pages, you will see the dress designs for mother's day and Mom's Birthday cards  http://www.weebly.com/uploads/7/0/0/6/7006363/5335771.jpg.  While you are browsing you must also check out the pair of shoes, I mean what women doesn't like a beautiful pair of shoes; http://www.weebly.com/uploads/7/0/0/6/7006363/9896826.jpg.  I know I sound like a broken record, but it is awesome to watch the young adults create their works.  Within the next few weeks, we will be moving on to crafts; birdhouses, napkin rings, and who knows what else.  And I know you are wondering what the profits are for, well we are a non-profit company.  Our mission is to continue the life skills teaching of these young adults, provide learning experiences, vocational training, and recreational opportunities, so I'm sure that Space Center Houston, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, and other type venues will be visited this summer.

Our artists have been busy the last few weeks designing new cards, including Mother's day, Thank You, and Get Well.  Starting this Friday they will be designing Graduation Cards for those you know who might be graduating from high school, college, or even Kindergarten.  Just tell us what your needs are and we are ready to help.  My favorite card, I think since I changed my mind hourly sometimes, is of the owls sitting on the bare tree limbs designed by Kevin found at the link below. http://www.weebly.com/uploads/7/0/0/6/7006363/8796666.jpg

Check out this new Miss You card designed by James found at the link below:http://www.weebly.com/uploads/7/0/0/6/7006363/1953150.jpg

Beginning last week, we have started designing monogrammed note cards.  These come in packages of 6 cards for $5.00.  You can't beat this price at your local retailers.  This first set was designed by Mom - Dian, but the future sets will be designed and produced by Treasures.  See the example at the link below:

And last but not least, I don't want you to think we Mom's sit by painting our nails and eat bon bons while the Treasures do their thing.  There are some cards in the gallery designed by a Mom of an Unexpected Treasure (there are 4 of us right now).  Check out this lace Birthday Card for that someone special on your list.  http://www.weebly.com/uploads/7/0/0/6/7006363/2164405.jpgWell it is now past midnight, which is the hour for sleep in this insomniac's house.  I have to get a few hours sleep so I can keep up with the Treasures in their designing and other ventures.  Look back over the next couple of weeks, as I add their fine art paintings, jewelry, and more to the website.  Over the next couple of weeks they will be venturing into crafts for outdoor living.  And I almost forgot, by the weekend I will have photos posted of the Treasures so that you can place a name to a face when you purchase a card.  May God bless you richly tomorrow.JOY in CHRIST,JOYce
